Chapter Ten

“I’m too sore to run around the house!”

James chuckled and tugged Caroline’s hair. “Serves you right. I seem to recall you were the one who wanted to break our record of how many times we can do it in one sitting. Not that we were ‘sitting’ at all!”

She turned to make a face at her husband. “Did you have to go one better? I mean, wherever did you get the energy? I was exhausted by the fourth time, and the fifth positively shattered me.”

“This ‘treasure hunt’ they have planned will loosen you up. What does the information sheet say?”

Caroline sighed and looked at the leaflet that had been lying on the bed when they returned to their room after dinner.

“Follow the clues to find the reward. You are allowed to be fully clothed.”

“Well that’s simple enough,” James said, as he left her to get a jacket.

She made a face. “That instruction is clear, but did you read the first clue?”

James gestured at her. “Read it out loud.”

Caroline did as her husband requested. “You will be amazed what delights you find at the centre.”

He stopped in the process of pulling his jacket on. “The centre of what?”

She giggled. “Exactly!”

“Hang on a minute.” James threw himself onto the bed, rapidly pulling out the map of the estate from the induction pack. “Yep, thought so. There is a ‘maze.’ Get it? Amazed. The clue was in the wording. They want us to go there and get to the centre. That’s where our next clue will be.” He grinned over at her, pleased at his ingenuity.

Caroline rolled her eyes at him, knowing he was right.
